Kitchen Team Member
(Culinary Focus)
Pay: £12.21-£13.50 per hour

Kitchen Team Member at our plant based Cafe
Hours: Wednesday to Sunday -10:30am to 4:30pm
(30 hours/week) Minimum.
Optional evening shifts in the future for evening supper clubs and at off-site events/festivals. Overtime may be available during busier periods.
About Us
Vegan Antics is an independent Vegan bakery & cafe in Gravesend, Kent. We’re known for our fresh, made-to-order dishes, house-baked cakes and pastries, and creative seasonal specials. We also now plan to host evening supper clubs / events and we also currently attend multiple festivals across the UK.

The Role
We’re looking for a talented person to join our kitchen team. You will be responsible for prepping for the day ahead, cooking, plating, and contributing creatively to our menu.
Lunch rush: During our busiest hours, you’ll deliver consistent, beautifully presented plates under pressure.
Quieter periods: You’ll support with kitchen standards maintenance, washing up, assisting with baking too.
Events: You must also be flexible to attend evening supper clubs, festivals, and external events with the team. This is arranged prior to agreement.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook a variety of fresh, plant-based dishes to order from our menu
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and exceptional food service.
Contribute to seasonal specials and new dish development
Support with baking and pastry production during quieter times.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness; follow cleaning schedules;
Dish washing when required
Complete stock rotation (FIFO), temperature logs, and labelling/expiry checks
Daily monitoring of inventory levels of kitchen supplies and assist with ordering when necessary.
Comply with Food Safety, allergen management (Natasha’s Law/PPDS), HACCP and COSHH standards
Requirements
Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate (mandatory)
Level 3 Food Hygiene training can be provided if desired
English speaking (Native)
Strong understanding of food safety practices and hygiene standards.
Previous kitchen experience
Reliable, organised, and calm under pressure
Flexibility to work occasional extra shifts, including evenings or as needed.
Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate clearly with colleagues in the kitchen and front of house.
Passion for food and keen eye for detail in presentation
Some baking/pastry experience preferred
